In 2008 Kings Dominion opened there newest roller coaster Dominator.
Dominator ushered in a new brand of thrills to Kings Dominion as it was
the first B&M coaster for the park. Now it stands as the tallest
coaster at Kings Dominion, changing the skyline dramatically at the park
The coaster was originally designed and built for Six Flags Ohio as the Batman Knight Flight coaster in 2000. The coaster had a name change to Dominator in 2003 when Cedar Fair purchased Six Flags Ohio. They changed the name of the park back to its original name Geauga Lake. In 2007 Geauga Lake closed and Cedar Fair removed Dominator from the park.
In late October 2007, Dominator track began to appear in the Kings
Dominion parking lot, confirming rumors that the coaster would be coming
for the 2008 season.
Coaster Crew broke the news of the track and became the official Off Season Podcast for Dominator. In the upcoming months the Coaster Crew updated us on the construction progress.
In late March 2008, Kings Dominion opened Dominator to excited enthusiasts from all over the region.
Dominator is a very unique floorless B&M coaster. Since it opened in
2000 B&M has not built a floorless coaster to reach the same length as
Dominator. It still holds the record as the Longest Floorless B&M
coaster. Dominator has also won over many fans with is layout, which
includes one of the largest loops for a roller coaster, a cobra head
inversion that flips you right over the Dominator midway, and its
interlocking corkscrew inversions. Another unique feature of Dominator
is, a lot of its track is low to the ground. That means the rides speed
and intensity is very high.
All in all Dominator has very quickly won its place in the hearts of Kings Dominions guests, and is a wonderful addition to the park.
