I think we'll be getting an announcement sometime soon,at least I hope.I think that tree that's marked with a flag is set to come down for this project seeing as how zoomflume was built almost 3 years ago.

Still, it's so close to the water slide that it almost looks like they didn't bother knocking down those trees during construction. I hope I'm wrong. Then we'd have a nice spot to see construction at least until Waterworks closes....

Well I for one hope they leave some trees for the coaster to run the track through. That is the one thing I have always liked about BGE's coaster sans Griffon (i.e. it really has not trees around it).
Good to know that they are clearing way back there though.
I would like to add one other thought that I posted many pages back and that is I wonder if they are clearing a lot of this area out to make way for a new "area" and not JUST a new coaster. No doubt we are getting a coaster though.
For instance if the ride "entry" is supposed to come from FOF area would it not make sense to clear a small area out for food shops, games, what have thus attracting more people to the backside of the park and have greater opportunity to "cash in" on guests? Afterall unless you are specifically riding FOF or Anaconda you won't be in this area as there is nothing (Stunt Track is not horribly far away).
So perhaps this whole cleared area is not just for the coaster (yes I know I will be lynched for this thought).

I think that some people on these boards are just Intamin giga, intamin giga, they cant see that there may be other things at work here. I agree they very well may be putting in a new area around the expanded lake and the AQUATRAX.

^^I definitely think there will be other buildings constructed along with the new coaster. I doubt any big restaurants or anything will be installed, though. I would say at the very least maybe a bathroom and obviously an onride photo booth. A game or two or maybe a few food kiosks could also easily be thrown in there as well.
However, look at FoF and Firehawk at KI: They are pushed way back behind the Racer with little or no accompanying buildings. Hopefully if this coaster is as huge as some say it will be, park guests won't need any added incentive to walk all the way back there
To technfxrick: We have no idea if they are actually expanding the lake or if that was just a joke. I know when my gf and I talked to her old managers they said they were "just doing some landscaping." They're seriously toying with us at this point, so I wouldn't put much weight in what the officials are saying. I'm more interesting in what the non-official-spokespeople are saying, and according to most, the rumor is that this is NO aquatrax

Well if it is a big new ride (no matter a giga or a 100mph launcher or something like that) people will come to the area BUT to capitalize on the influx of people in the area they need to add more stuff to do there and get more of folks money.
Essentially I am just saying the coaster may not be as big as we all think (or want) if a lot of the land being cleared will be eaten up by accessory additions (games, bathrooms, food shops, merchandise etc). That's all.
**EDIT -- BTW thanks for the pics and new info from going today. Much appreciated.

I have my doubts on them expanding the lake, especially when they took away the lake all those years ago,, i think it will be cool to see the park surround the lake, like at freestyle music park.

I think they will build a restroom because they really need one over there.

A new restroom is always a good idea & add more food stands t hat serve powerade since I have to go to like 10 different retail outlets to find the stuff in the park just to stay hydrated....I prefer not to drink soda's on hot days at the park as they are actually dehydrating.
I'm gonna take a look at this year's map just to get a reference point on where the nearest restroom is to the proposed site for the coaster.Of course building a new restroom isn't an easy feat as it requires pre-existing infrastructure....or a means to tap into nearby infrastructure(in this case sewer lines) as a means of providing water to the facility.
